I’m back. Instead of feeling rejuvenated, I’m actually feeling like any other day – tired. Shucks. And I feel so cheated cos the guys are so on the ball that they came to work today. But since their flight is in the afternoon, I’m guessing they’ll leave by lunch. I thought I’ll be in the office alone the whole day lah. Thank goodness I didn’t come dressed shabbily like what I had planned to do at first. Anyway, I shall recap my weekend at Batam!
Friday nite, we were so pumped about going Batam that we had planned to stay up all nite and go prawning or whatever. But being us, we took turns to fall asleep until we only had time left to have a quick bite at Macs. Slept for another 2 hours, and it was time to wake up.
Tub’s mum sent us to Harbourfront and I had Macs for breakfast again durng the hour before we were slated to board the ferry. I had 2 Macs breakfast in a span of less than a few hours. OMG. Haha. The ferry was pretty quick and comfy so it was alrite with me.
Bye bye Merlion..

Hello Harris Resort

When we got there, there was a shuttle bus to take us to the resort which was like less than 5 mins away? –Pengz- The staff there was great I gotta say. Upon reaching, we had a welcome party waiting for us with songs and dance. We had maps given to us, we were offered strawberry milk, cookies and cold towel. That was 10+am Batam time and our check in time was 2pm so we decided not to waste time hanging around the resort cos it is damn isolated from everything else. We had some time to spare so we took a quick tour of the resort. The resort’s exterior and the facilities like the go-karting and even the Cabanas etc looked pretty disappointing so I didn’t wanna hold too much hope for our room. We took the complimentary shuttle to a shopping mall in Nagoya at 11am, which will pick us to return to the resort in 3.5hrs time so we thought that was pretty good cos by the time we get back to the resort, we were ready to check in. The ride there took about half an hour. Yep. We were at least half an hour away from the nearest shopping mall. Along the way, it was mountains and port holes and attap houses.
Now the mad part was just at Nagoya shopping mall, we spent around $200. On what, I oso dunno. And it’s not like the shopping was very shiok. The mall reminded me of a decent shopping centre in Singapore, but the things they were selling were repetitive, which reminded me of lucky plaza or something. Haha.

And we thought Indonesians were supposed to be conservative but that’s so not true. They had 2 performances running simultaneously in different parts of the shopping mall and the performers’ age range from probably 6 year olds to teenagers and they way they dance on stage is damn OMG. It’s so disturbing to see a 6 year old dancing with her legs so wide open you can see her panties and she’s shaking her hips so hard it’ll make any pedophile have a nose bleed. And everyone stops to gather round and gawk. Argh.
Anyway, upon returning back to our resort for check in, we got a very nice surprise. We got a very nice room! Apparantly there are only 2 Japanese Suites in the entire resort. There was a decent bathroom 1 big bedroom with TV, a little balcony, another big room for TV and it leads to an outdoor stone bath. In that TV room, there’s another small room that leads to another small toilet.

We watched some TV, had some ciggies, soaked in the nice stone bath, drank some tea, then we booked a 3 hour taxi that cost us about $40 to send us to dinner and back. We went to the much talked about Golden Prawn 933 which was quite a long journey away. We had nice seats by the sea and we went to choose our live seafood. We had deep fried garupa, tou miao, cereal prawns and pepper crab.

Went back to the hotel after that to walk around and then we sat by the pool for our complimentary pizza.

There was a live band playing and tubs requested a song for me. Abit later on, he decided to sing a song for me himself. I’ve got it down on video but it’s for my eyes only. Hur hur. Took a pic together, then we went back to the room for more movies!
Woke up early on Sunday morning for breakfast. I thought the breakfast was damn yucks… wanted to use the internet to check out what spas we can go to but internet was down so we decided to risk it and went to Nagoya again.
We came to a spa and I started having my doubts. It looked damn dodgy but we convinced ourselves that:
It was our resort concierge that told us about this place
It was directly opposite the big shopping mall
It was dirt cheap (massage, body scrub, body treatment, body soak for less than $40)
It was located in the premises of a hotel
We told them we wanted to get a massage together and they said ‘ok’
But I guess I ended up regretting it so much I swear I’ll never go back there again. To be fair, she did a good job of the massage and scrub. But everything else was horrendous. The place was so dingy and dirty looking, the massage bed was a mattress (Can you imagine what the damn mattress must have soaked up and there I am lying on it. Fucking sick. I don’t need no extra protein boost thank you very much) There’s no privacy at all either. While you shower, their masseuse walks in and out, leaving the door wide open. Thank goodness there weren’t anybody else around. And the place is lup sup. Nuff said.
We were in time to take the resort shuttle back but the driver kept running around doing dunno what so we decided to take a cab back instead. Thing was, once we got into a cab, the bus decided to set off too so we reached the resort at the same time. What a waste of money. $15 for that trip back –Seh-

We went around the resort to take some last minute pictures and then we decided to eat our very late lunch. We ordered a burger and fish & chips and because we were running outta time, we got them to pack up the fries. Took the resort van to the ferry terminal and its back to Singapore.

Thing is, we didn’t realize it would make a stop along the way and pick up more people. There were so many aunties and uncles it was crazy. I hate lao hiaos. They dress like sluts and they’re so damn noisy. It’s gross to watch people their age flirt with each other like they’re some sweet young thing. Better go gamble their life savings away in Batam.
Reaching Singapore was another headache of having to tahan those aunties pushing their way thru to ge to the passport scan thingy. I think it’s a damn bad idea when there’s a big crowd and there’s no proper queue. Sometimes when the scan decides to cock up, you’re pretty much screwed cos there’s a mass of people behind you. Mine didn’t work somehow but it let me thru and I went to the guy in the counter and he said ‘let me look at your finger’ then he said ‘your finger is abit dry’
…………………….
Whatever. I just got oiled at a massage afew hours ago and now you tell me my fingers are too dry? I never had a problem with finger scans cos there’s one at work and I’m the only person who never needs to rescan more than once. So save the lame excuse lah huh.
Cabbed to granny’s in time for dinner.
P.S I took a video of our room but have yet to post it up so check back if you're interested.
P.P.S Thanks darls for making this a wonderful trip. It was short but I guess we really made the best of it. I still have no idea how we managed to spend some many hundreds of dollars in less than 2 days. The things we bought weren’t that pricy, neither were the things we ate lei. And it’s not like we bought a lot of things either. Hahahaha. I love you baby and I know you really enjoyed yourself so we shall try to plan on another trip soon yah.
