It was just 1 day of holiday and it kinda felt like any other weekend. I can’t decide whether that’s good or bad. It’s either the 1 day seemed very long, or my usual weekends seem very short. Haha.
Wednesday afternoon, went to my boss’s place to let him sign and update him on some office stuff and then I came back to the office. If I had stayed to finish up everything, it would have taken forever but I decided once the clock struck 15mins past 6pm that I should just drop everything and finish it up after the holiday.
Was planning where to go for dinner and we were pretty decided on Trader’s Hotel oready but we couldn’t make it in time so we had to cancel the booking. By the time tubs and Jack came down to pick me up, it was 8pm oready so we ended up at East Coast Park Seafood Centre. It was so damn shiok but I didn’t eat much cos while waiting for the guys to come, I was snacking on Kettle chips while watching TV at home. What a bummer. We ordered Bamboo clams, Chilli crab, Black pepper crab, deep fried soon hock and man tous. I seem to have left something out but I’m not sure what.. But the 3 of us really had a feast. Yum yum.
After dinner, went to meet Dan at Punggol Park. Either he seemed unnaturally hyper that day, or I was very tired. Haha.
Tried to wake up on Labour Day for some Macs/BK breakfast but by the time we left the house, it was 11am oready. Shucks. Decided to eat at BK anyways but ECP was madness. There was a jam and BK was full house. After much contemplating, we decided to head down to Joo Chiat to try the Korean food. We went to both Korean restaurants to look at the menu and it didn’t look happening at all. So we decided to eat at Aston’s since there wasn’t much of a queue. And then tubs spotted a new steamboat place next to Aston’s. And we decided to give it a try. It wasn’t pricy at all and the food was pretty decent. I think me and bitches have a new place in our area to eat steamboat oready. My only grouse was their ma la soup left a very strong after taste in your mouth. Other than that, everything was ok. There’s nothing to rave about, but it wasn’t bad either. The place is pretty small though. But the seats are all fixed so you don’t get people squeezing with you. it’s like a really small cha chan ting and instead of having a big steamboat in the middle, they have individual steamboats for each person so if you go with more people, everyone can have different soup bases. And what I like about this is you can control the temperate yourself since the steamboat is individual. This way, I can eat my food just nice. I hate it when everything is dumped in and we can’t eat it in time and it gets overcooked.
The whether was so hot and I was still feeling sleepy from waking up so early in the morning and also the full lunch didn’t help. So once I got back to tub’s house, I concussed. Haha. By the time I got up after lazing around, it was dinner time! I had a sudden and very weird craving for prata. Omg. I think we are quite mad cos while deciding what to have for dinner, we actually went Mellben to take a look. There were damn a lot of people, which may be a blessing in disguise cos if it wasn’t so crowded, we could very well end up having crabs 2 dinners in a row.
We finally ended up eating at a hawker centre at S’goon and there was a blind man singing there, keeping everyone entertained and then he sang the song which has been stuck in my head the entire day:
Joni was the girl who lived next door
I've known her, I guess, ten years or more
Joni wrote me a note one day
And this is what she had to say
(JONI:)
(Jimmy, please say you'll wait for me)
(I'll grow up someday you'll see)
(Saving all my kisses just for you)
(Signed with love forever true)
Slowly I read her note once more
I went over to the house next door
Her teardrops fell like rain that day
When I told Joni what I had to say
Joni, Joni please don't cry
You'll forget me by and by
You're just fifteen, I'm twenty-two
And Joni, I just can't wait for you
Soon I left our little home town
Got me a job and tried to settle down
But those words kept haunting my memory
The words that Joni wrote to me
(JONI:)
(Jimmy, please say you'll wait for me)
(I'll grow up someday you'll see)
(Saving all my kisses just for you)
(Signed with love forever true)
I packed my clothes and I caught a plane
I had to see Joni, I had to explain
How my heart was filled with her memory
And ask my Joni if she'd marry me
I ran all the way to the house next door
But things weren't like they were before
My teardrops fell like rain that day
When I heard what Joni had to say
(JONI:)
(Jimmy, Jimmy please don't cry)
(You'll forget me by and by)
(It's been five years since you've been gone)
(And Jimmy, I married your best friend John)
Hahaha. Somehow it oways happens. When a song is going on repeat in my head, someone will either sing the song or I’ll hear it on radio or something.
After dinner, we were so stuffed and we knew if we went home, we would just laze in bed so we went to Lower Pierce Reservoir to sit down and talk. Yesterday, that place really freaked me out. I dunno why, but it just felt super eerie. I guess it was far too dark for my liking and even though there were people walking past now and then, it was pretty unsettling.
On the way home that nite, I think the damn police set up a speed trap cos as I came round the corner and I saw them, I slowed down at the road block and the very cute policeman told me ‘Miss, you are going very fast you know’. And I thot ‘Fuck I’m screwed’ Cos I know before they came into view, I was driving pretty fast. When I heard the next thing he said, I wanted to give him a kiss man. He said ‘Next time don’t drive so fast k’. Phew! I think next time I should either avoid that road or go really slow cos it’s not the first time there’s a roadblock there. But I hope what he meant was to give me a warning and not send a letter to my house. Haha.
When I got home, which was close to 3am, the mother was still awake. There’s something so seriously wrong with her tooth that one side of her jaw is so swollen it looks like there’s an egg inside. It is damn bad but old people can be really stubborn. She wants to wait til this morning to see her dentist..
Couldn’t sleep last nite. I think I slept too much during the day. Or maybe cos of other reasons which I dun think I wanna talk about here. No big deal, but chancing upon it still makes my blood boil. Ok. Shall not elaborate anymore. But when it comes to things like that, I have a very low tolerance level for it.
On a lighter note, it’s Friday!!! I love holidays on Thursdays. It just seems to make the work week very much shorter and the weekend super long!
I have been buying these gummy sweets everytime I go pump petrol at SPC. I love!
Like its not nice enuff, it even has gummy bits and xylitol grains inside which makes it really nice to eat cos you get all the different textures and different bursts of flavour. And I’m so proud of myself I found these gems cos I first bought them only cos I liked the pictures on the packaging. Hahaha.

Anyway, I hope my Mandy dear is feeling ok. Things seem serious but I don’t think it’s as serious as it looks. All you need is time and everything will be alright once again. Guys are just really dumb sometimes. I dun wanna go into detail here cos it’s none of all you kaypohs’ business. I just wanna tell you that I love you! Can't wait for our dinner date. *muackz*
