Day 18 - Home Sweet Home!
After this trip though, I confirmed one thing - I can live without my immediate family but I can’t live without my friends/ BF. I don’t mean to sound like such an unfilial ingrate, but over the years, and after many incidents, this is how distant I have grown from the family, and it is oso how close I have grown to others. I think it’s been a long time since I’ve been so constantly frustrated for 3 weekends in a row and away from my loved ones that I nearly went mad. The mother herself was almost completely to blame for every single time I got cheesed off. I think this trip really tested my patience and I think I hid my feelings fairly well, so much so that I couldn’t wait to come back and see the people I love and just get away from it all. I’ve got so much to complain but that’s for me to relate to others verbally, not here for the world to read about.
But that aside, it was a nice trip. We covered a hell lot of places. A little hectic, but I thought it was worth the rush and the early mornings. I was happy cos even though I didn’t get my nicotine fix throughout the day, the boy was a real trouper, either accompanying me out of the hotel at nite to smoke, or allowing me to smoke in the room at the end of the day so I ended up not only finishing my SG pack which I brought, but buying another 3 more packs.
If I had to give a really quick summary of the trip, I’d just say that :
- Paris is bloody overrated and in fact a little dodgy, that plus having to deal with the snobbish french was quite the turn off
- A place people would in fact think of as dodgy would be Amsterdam but can I please say that not only are the people friendlier in Amsterdam, it’s a nice place to walk and the guys are hot hot hot!
Anyways, our tour guide from Dynasty Travel sucks. I have no qualms revealing his name cos he really is that bad - Ivan. His English is so damn bad I swear most of the time I have no idea what he’s talking about, and he’s not very pro-active, and basically I have nothing good about him to say. We must have been quite a sight, following him around blindly cos he didn’t know his way around. How nice is it to have a tour guide who is constantly lost.
One thing I’m not sure whether to be sore about or not is that I did not mange to buy my LV bag. When I went hunting for it in Paris, it was sold out, both at Galeries Lafayette and also the huge stand alone store. I was sore because I was quite set on buying it to begin with and when I checked the price, it was only 835€, and that’s not yet deducting the tax rebate. The bag which is also sold out in Singapore, costs more than 2kSGD lah. But another part of me didn’t feel that sore cos before we went to Paris, I had oready bought a Bally bag at Switzerland. And to make me feel abit better, it is a limited edition bag, with only 70 pieces made, and all 70 pieces are sold in Switzerland so I guess it’s quite safe to say that I maybe the only one with that bag in
Singapore.
Shopping wasn’t as fab as I had hoped. Firstly, shopping with the parents ain’t the best thing to do. Secondly, everywhere it’s either overpriced clothes, or everything is winter wear. I did manage to shop abit at H&M though. Bought some t-shirts for myself and tubs and some accessories. Even though my purchases at H&M looks quite decent, I have to say it was all accumulated. Because H&M was everywhere, I bought a little from this H&M, and then a little from that H&M etc. I think the best thing I bought from there was a nice big black bag cos my Puma bag which I brought for the trip started peeling grossly which made me immensely sad cos I really loved that bag!
Apart from that, I bought some chocolates, some lighters, a watch which was kinda pricy but I really liked it and Eiffel towers to give out as souvenirs. The little towers were quite a story in themselves I gotta say. At the Eiffel Tower gift shop, the mini key chains were selling for 2€ each and that is pricy. Just multiply that by 2 and you’ll get a rough idea how much it costs. Anyway, I just went ahead and bought a bunch of them. Once we stepped out the the Eiffel Tower, there were people selling the key chains for 1€ each. Dang. So I bought some more. The further we went, the cheaper it got. It became 3 for 1€ and I became really dismayed and in the end, I bought another bunch, 5 key chains for 1€. Haha. What I joke man.
Ok, now I really gotts go take a nap before I faint or something. I’ll be back with pictures and I just wanna say I can’t wait for Kailing to come home, I can’t wait to meet all my lovelies, and I’m so glad my baby boy sent me off when I left for Europe and also that he came pick us up from the airport this morning, with breakfast for me. Love you darls!
