I cannot stand the advertisement for last week’s Beauty Files. There was a part where this girl was talking about how she stayed in America for 5 years or something, and how the foot there is bigger portioned than the foot in asia. Yup. She pronounces ‘food’ as ‘foot’. Tubs was the one who pointed it out for me and he made so much noise about it that I started taking note of it and it has irritated me incessantly since. Obviously 5 years in America later, she didn’t learn much English. I don’t have that big a problem with bad English. I admit I at times find it hard to control myself and laugh at people, but what I can’t stand are people who try too hard and posers. And because this girl has the great honour of having her 15 seconds of fame on TV at the same time as Fann Wong’s Shanghai Knights trailer, I realise that they speak alike. The same indistinguishable accent and the badly pronounced words. But Fann is slightly more jialat I guess, cos she gets subtitles cos she is that hard to understand. Even Jackie Chan doesn’t get subtitles. Haha. Or maybe Miss ‘asian foot’ just doesn’t speak enuff on the commercial to command her own subtitles. Okok. I shall stop for now. It’s the CNY season. Must be nice.
Updates on the past week now!
Last Tuesday, met up with Vince in town and spent the whole day in Orchard, having lunch followed by coffee til nite time. Boon Lay nasi lemak-ed after that. Shiok. It’s been a bloody long time since I last ate that. Thanks boy for everything. The meals, the present and the company. Went to pick up some things from Ah Qi and then I dropped by Bayshore to look for Mandy dear for a smoke.
On Thursday, I couldn’t sleep at all so ard 7+am, I msged Jane and she wasn’t sleeping either so we went ECP for Macs breakfast. Haha. We slacked there til around 10am and once I got home and logged onto MSN, Chixy was online and she hasn’t slept as well. Haha. We went to shower and get ready and the 3 of us met for some last minute CNY shopping. Spent the entire day in town, but ended up with nothing at all other than an achy body. Thanks tubs for coming to pick us up after that! Cos I was stoned beyond believe.
Friday, met my bitches for lunch at Roxy and in the evening, tubs came to pick me up and we went Bugis to meet Jes, Rachel and Ah Boy and we celebrated Rachel’s birthday at XDL. Haha. What’s new eh. That girl goes nowhere else but XDL. After that the 5 of us headed to Kbox for some KTV and towards the end, Rach & Boy left and it didn’t take tubs long to fall asleep so Jes and I played all the videos we wanted to watch.
Saturday was reunion dinner at Traders’. I love my lobsters, sashimi and oysters! Tubs came to pick me up after that and we headed over to Ann’s place to meet my lovelies and they played MJ til after 6 in the morning. Too much TV and ciggies for me.
Sunday, we lunched at Waraku ECP and tubs had to head home so I met my bitches and went to Chixy’s house to slack while Jane did her nails. Met Jes for coffee after that and even after I got home, I couldn’t sleep at all but thank goodness I had some entertainment on MSN. Haha. I think I barely slept 3 hours before I had to wake.
Monday. First day of CNY, and oso Rachel’s birthday. Happy birthday to my dear girl! Hope you like what we got you! Granny’s house in the morning and stayed there til I was sleepy and hot so we headed home in the afternoon. Met Kailing cos she was at Bayshore and tubs came over. Dinner with him at Mas Ayu before he left and so I met up with Jes for coffee. After sending her home, bumped into someone. What a small world. Haha. Not. Considering how near we stay to each other.
Tuesday, went to both granny’s house to visit and it was a little bit of blackjack, and a little bit of bingo. Stayed there til after dinner and then together with tubs and Chan, we went to Ann’s place around 10.30pm and I watched movie after movie while the rest of them played MJ. We ordered in Macs breakfast and it wasn’t long after that they finished their game and it was home sweet home for some much needed sleep.
Here are some pix at 婆婆's. The humble neighbourhood where I spent a big part of my childhood at.
公公's 'treasure'. Haha
Over to paternal granny's.
This is granny's famous 'wu har'. Not the prettiest thing, but tastes bloody heavenly. It's a pain to make though so very year, it's really limited. Nobody can get enough of it. Yums.
Gambling time! Bingo, Blackjack, Daidee.
Wednesday, most people are back to work but not tubs. So we slept in and for dinner, he decided to go Traders’. Omg. I didn’t eat too much but it was yummy and I didn’t mind it too much cos the spread was pretty different from the other day’s. We headed to the east after that and tubs played more MJ but just for a short while cos he has to work the next day.
Ok. Updated. Hope everyone is sufficiently bored by my post cos I am thoroughly bored typing it. Haha. This year, there is no CNY mood at all. Sianz.
There are photos, but non are with me so I’ll post them when I do get them yah.

Ok. Sorry for MIA-ing. It’s just been a week since I last updated but Mandy called me just to check if I’m still alive so I think I better update. Haha. Just my weekend though. Everything else has faded to a blur, with the exception of my gastronomic week - first was Tuesday’s reunion dinner at Paramount Tung Lok with mum’s side of the family, then it was XDL supper with my bitches on Wednesday. We actually canceled plans for Zouk to go XDL. Terrible. Haha. Anyway, here goes!
FridayAfter Jes ended work, we went down to Cat’s place to see baby Matthew but I’m not very good with new born babies cos they are sleeping most of the time and they look so fragile and therefore my attention was diverted to the sweetie pie Melody. Here’s a pic of her which I stole from somewhere cos I didn’t manage to take a pic of her that day. Is she cute or is she cute?
After we were done at Cat’s, I dropped Jes home and headed to look for the guys. They were at the void deck being nonsensical as usual and the wind was freezing there. Tubs decided to go XDL and so we went for supper together with Chan. My 2nd XDL in a week -faints-. I wasn’t all that in the mood so the boys had to clear everything. But it was shiok sitting outside in the cold weather, having a smoke and eating piping hot steamboat.
After dropping Chan home, we decided Macs ice cream cone would be nice and so we drove-thru for ice cream cone and went to ECP to finish it up and to take a smoke. Bad idea. We were so damn cold I was near shivering. The weather at nite can be utterly insane but I love.
Saturday
Shopping day! Went to Vivo with tubs and managed to get some shopping done after we lunched at Marche. Armed with Ted Baker, Forever 21, Zara, River Island, Kiehls shopping bags later, we headed home and the boy and the father were doing some last minute packing before flying off to Egypt. I wonder if the boy will remember to buy back some Patchi chocolates. I think it’s cheaper there and it’s really yummy. For dinner, tubs whipped up some porridge which turned out to be a lot of porridge. Haha.
After they left for the airport around midnite, tubs and I went to get my little red riding hood washed and polished for CNY. Ok. I barely washed the car. I was sitting there reading Her World while tubs shined my ride up real good. Hehe. By the time we were done with the car, it was Macs brekkie time!
SundayWent to Granny’s for dinner. Apparently granny had accidentally knocked into a glass cabinet door while doing spring cleaning the previous day, causing it to shatter but she’s fine so that’s good. Sometimes, it’s hard not to worry as people get older, especially when grandpa isn’t around anymore.
Went Parkway with Mel and tubs after dinner to walk around abit, followed by our usual Sunday nite meeting.
Monday
Tubs took leave so we slept in and just when we decided to go out, we realized that the mother had taken the car. Hunger strikes so we called KFC delivery and after waiting for so long, they fucked up the order. Wonderful. All crispy became all original, we asked for 3 coleslaw + 1 whipped potato, the receipt wrote 2 coleslaw + 2 whipped potato, and we got 4 coleslaw. By the time everything came correct, the mother was home oready. Tubs was still fueled by Saturday’s shopping so we went to Vivo again. Haha. Insane. And even though I thought I had finished scouring through everything, I ended up buying shoes from River Island. Yes. Yet another pair of heels. Yet another pair which I have to hide in my room. God knows how many times my mum has asked me ‘New shoes?’ and I just say ‘No lah. Just seldom wear.’ What a liar. I’m sure she doesn’t believe. Haha. But what the heck.
After we were done at Vivo, we went to Mt Faber for some drinks before heading home to watch TV and laze around.
That’s all folks. This week should be quite a busy one for me, and I wasn’t even talking about spring cleaning my room. I have to meet Vince for lunch, meet Ah Qi to take some stuff, meet my bitches for shopping, meet Jes and Rach for Rach’s birthday celebration, reunion dinner with dad’s side of the family, MJ with my lovelies etc. Til then!

I had a fab weekend, until I read something on The New Paper on Sunday which really pissed both tubs and I off big time. But first, let’s recap my weekend before I forget all about it.
Friday, met up with Jes to chit chat before tubs and I went to watch Red Cliff 2. I was very disappointed with how the first Red Cliff left us hanging and now it’s back to complete the show. I have no complaints about the movie, cos I am a person who enjoys war flicks and it helps that there are so many yan daos to watch. Haha. Tubs bought a huge drink to tide thru the entire movie but he finished it way before the movie ended. What’s new eh. But the tumbler is so cute.
Tubs went for his IPPT on Saurday afternoon after we woke so I popped by ECP to look for Mandy and her sis and hung out there with them til tubs was done. I was really anticipating going for the Singapore Tattoo Show and that’s exactly where we went in the evening. It’s not hard to find out which hall it was held at cos only at a tattoo show, will there be a flood of people smoking outside. Anyway, I hate to say this but I hoped it would have been at a bigger scale. Saw quite a few foreign works which were very good but I don’t like the idea of getting a tattoo done on the spot cos it makes you into an exhibit. And of course, I managed to get a shot of Chris Garver from Miami Ink. Not a good pic, too blurry and far away, but he is, nevertheless, as good as the highlight of the entire show. He’ll be at the Heeren these few days too, or so I heard.
Anyway, tubs and I decided to go watch a movie again. Haha. This time, we watched The Duchess. It was not bad. A tad boring, but I love the clothes and the entire setting of the film. After the movie, we went to the toilet on the first level of Marina Square, near 7-11. When I went in, the toilet was empty and I just had a weird feeling which freaked me out so bad I din even dare turn around to flush the toilet but thank god for auto flush. I quickly came out of the cubicle, washed my hands without even looking in the mirror and walked out. Boy was I glad to see tubs standing outside the toilet waiting for me. I was just about to dismiss the feelings of unease and then tubs asked me “Were you alone in the toilet?”
Wow. Just what I needed. Apparently he heard a kid calling out for daddy in the ladies toilet but I didn’t hear anything at all. Fab.
But that’s that and then we went to Swee Choon for supper. Yum yum. I have to admit that the standard has really dropped though. *sigh* It was one of the few dim sum places that I actually thought was good. Not that it’s bad now, but comparing to last time, it’s just not as good anymore. Here’s our very pretty museum in the still of the nite.
Sunday, I finally had KSC chicken rice. I used to eat it so often last time with my bitches, and then I completely stopped eating there. And now after such a damn long time, I finally had it again. We were gonna head over to Marina Barrage to watch the sunset but these few days have been nothing but foggy so there was no point going and instead, we went to ECP to look for Mandy dear again. I bought a dress from Mandy and everything was going for really cheap lah. Slacked there for awhile and then it was time to go Granny’s for dinner. Having a late lunch on Sundays is a bad idea cos by the time we get to Granny’s, it’s near impossible to stuff anything else down our throats.
After dinner, we went Parkway to walk around bit then it was down to business. Business which is in progress, slowly but surely.
Anyway, what I read on the New Paper that night was an article written by Zaihan Mohamed Yusof. What upset me was the name calling, and also as a reporter, I think it is bloody offensive and distasteful to write such a biased article. In another section of TNP, even a reader writing in talking about the current smoking situation is so much more neutral and sensitive to everyone‘s feelings, both smokers and non-smokers alike. Anyway back to this reporter. Let me just quote the first 3 paragraphs of the report.-
You see more of them these days. They are what some call street “parties” or “groupies”. They can be found outside shopping malls and office buildings, looking increasingly alienated and frustrated. They are the outcasts, smokers who have been banished from most places because of stiffer rules that took effect on Jan 1.
Firstly I thought the entire article was absolutely redundant. It was more like a chance for a reporter who is going through a tough personal time in life to take a swipe at smokers in public because ‘Hey! I’m a reporter and I can put down in print whatever I feel like!’. There are a ton of anal people writing in to forums and such whining about everything and anything and if you ask me, I think this reporter shouldn’t abuse his authority and just write in to forums instead, together with all the pathetic people since he chooses to call people names like outcasts. And I do wonder who are the ‘some’ who call smokers street parties or groupies. The reporter and his group of non-smoking friends? Ha.
Personally, I’m not a big fan of the smoking bans, cos it really makes finding a spot to smoke a real pain in the ass. It’s obvious the government is trying to make Singapore a smoke-free country in time to come. I’m not that against it, cos even though I smoke, I admit it’s a bad habit and probably in the near future, it will decrease the number of people picking up smoking which is a good thing. But in the meantime, smokers are still human and just because they have a bad habit doesn’t mean they should be treated any differently. Ultimately, smoking is legal. I think some places where smoking is banned is crap. Playgrounds are understandable. I would never smoke in front of a kid, even if there’s no such ban, cos I am human after all and I will not intentionally bring harm to kids’ health. But sheltered carparks? Its’ one of the few places where there are barely anybody around cos people usually just park and go off. Nobody hangs around a carpark for no reason at all.. So I don’t see smokers can affect them so much. And I like to smoke at sheltered carparks cos it’s sheltered and I don’t smoke and drive at the same time. So all I wanna do after all that driving, is step out of my car and enjoy a smoke. No smoking indoors is fine. And now no smoking at sheltered carparks? I can’t even begin to understand it cos it seems as good as saying ‘if you wanna smoke, you either gotta stand under our bitch of a Singapore sun or in the rain.’ And because everyone knows what a pain our weather can be, the best option (which is obviously the main intention) is to not smoke at all, which some non-smokers just don’t understand that it’s just not that easy an option.
I can go on and on forever in regards to this topic, and I’m sure everyone else, both smokers and non-smokers can as well, so I shall cease fire for now. I just hate it when reporters become offensive. And I find it sad that once again, Singapore has added to the long standing joke about us being a FINE city. As much as there are smokers who are insensitive to other non-smokers’ presence, there are also many non-smokers who go all out to make things difficult for smokers, and many of them are getting worse by the day cos they feel like they have the government to back them up. But if everything has to be contained by yellow boxes and allocated spaces and threats and warnings and fines, I feel like a puppet in a suppressed country which I call home. In fact, I think when there weren’t any bans yet, I used to be more ‘human’, consciously taking note not to affect others’ with my cigarette smoke. But now, the law has come down so hard on smokers that I can’t even be bothered to be nice about such things anymore, especially when smokers are put in such bad light and given such a hard time and top of that, non-smokers are acting like that’s the way things should be. Sometimes I do wonder if this whole thing will backfire, making Singaporeans worse people than they oready are. It’s true that Singaporeans are a kiasi bunch, following whatever law is being implemented.. Which even though is seemingly good, but sometimes they really seem void their own voice anymore.
Enough about that. Monday nite’s KTV at Partyworld Orchard with my lovelies was madness as expected. It was a surprise planned for Wen cos she’s leaving the country soon and I may not be able to send her off at the airport on Sunday so I hope this would more or less make up for it. I had loads of fun and thanks Bryan for the Christian Dior stuff! It’s like Christmas all over again. Haha.

Ooh. It’s the weekend once again! After a very sleepless nite post-coffee at Xing Wang, with me watching movies online and chatting with Mandy on MSN and tubs snoring next to me, I can now look forward to today and the next couple of days to come.
Something has been slightly bugging me as of late, but it’s something I should have seen coming, and I think this time around, I have lost more hope than before so I’ll just try not to bother anymore. You are well known for your disappearing acts since way back and I wonder if it’s that hard not be a hypocrite, cos I’ve seen some very bad cases recently. I oso wonder if it’s that hard to not be aware when you are being a hypocrite. Oh well. I thought you had cleared your mind. I think I was just wrong. I think I had taken your words too seriously, cos your actions are the exact opposite. But it is your life, I’m in no right to interfere, just don’t forsake and forget those who helped you tide over the bad times cos if you can’t be a constant friend, I don’t see how I can bring myself to be your friend only during your low moments. This is just how I feel as now. Hopefully it’s just the lack of nicotine that’s making me extremely cranky as of late.
Now that I’ve finished ranting, here’s a piece of happy news. Cat gave birth to baby Matthew on Tuesday. Now with 2 young kids in the house, I can’t imagine the mayhem but I’ll babysit the lovely Melody anytime. Hehe.
Moving on, Mandy dear’s blogshop has gone through a makeover, complete with a different shop name! It is now called Dolling Me Up and the new link can be found in my Links tab. Also, she will be at Playground @ ECP selling new clothes from her blogshop and second-hand clothes this Saturday & Sunday, 10am - 8pm.
Poor K-Ling is having some shit at work. Isn’t work usually like that? Chill k. I think it’s your hair’s previous owner at work too. Haha. You never used to be that explosive when it comes to work. Through all the SMa shit, you would think your tolerance level has gone up eh. Haha. But some people are just hard to ignore. I totally understand. But now that it’s the weekend, don’t bring work mood home and just enjoy it while you can k. Anyway, we are gonna have lotsa fun on Monday + it’s your day off on Tuesday. Muacks!
Happy weekend everyone!

And once again, the weekend is over. Didn’t do much over the weekend, just a lot of slacking and sleeping. We really gotta find different things to do oready.
On Friday, Jane and I went to Starbucks ECP and there are no more smoking seats thanks to the new ban. I hate it! Therefore we slacked indoors on the sofas til late, til it was time for me to pick tubs up. In the end, I was reunited with my bitch again cos da chix asked us for kopi at Sandilands and so that what the 5 of us did.
Saturday evening, tubs and I decided to have dinner at Roxy, before heading back to his place. Around 11+pm, I was completely and utterly bored being stuck indoors so we went to pick Jane & Dennis up and we went to Marina Barrage. Here's just a pic I managed to get.
I expected a nice view, which is what we got, but I didn’t expect that amount of people to be there at that kinda time. It’s such a pretty place, but I hope the amount of people going there die off soon.. It’s like a bloody market place. Couples thinking of going there to make out can skip the idea but it’s still a very nice place to relax. Other than the crowd, I can only think of 1 other negative thing to say about that place - it is a non smoking place. Haha.
After enjoying the scenery and the very strong winds there, we went to eat XDL. Hahaha. We were so full after that we ended up gg for drive thru and sitting at ECP to digest and laugh away our food before calling it a night, or more like morning. Haha.
Sunday, we had Waraku for breakfast cum lunch cum pre-dinner.
Mistake. Cos by the time we got to granny’s, we were too stuffed to eat anything at all. Post-dinner discussion was fruitful this time around. I’m quite happy about it.
I just came back from coffee with my bitches, followed by slacking the nite away plus breakfast with Jane at Macs. The weather was fab. It almost got too cold even. Shiok.
I can’t fucking wait for this coming weekend cos it’s the First Singapore Tattoo Show ‘09. Yay!
On a parting note, I love pretty skies.
Here’s a shot from granny’s on Sunday evening.
And here’s some shots from my window within the same day on Monday. From dark skies, to purple, to blue.

Happy New Year everyone! It’s 2009 oready! I wish everyone the best in all that they do for the upcoming year!
I have decided to update my blog at this hour cos I can’t sleep and also cos if I were to wait til the weekend is over, I would have forgotten what I had done earlier. Haha.
Monday - 29 Dec
Met my lovelies for dinner at Punggol Park. It was a nice gathering I have to say. Even though we only planned gift exchange for whoever’s name was picked, but the darlings still gave individual presents and such.
My Royce chocolate was nothing much but I hope everyone enjoyed it.
Met up with Jane after that and we slacked the night away at Macs. Even after breakfast at Macs, I went home ans couldn’t sleep.. I think I managed to fall asleep around 8am or so and before my 11am alarm could sound, I was oready up. *sigh*
Tuesday - 30 Dec
Drove around with my bitches, looking for somewhere to have our Christmas lunch and we finally ate at a steamboat buffet place near Kallang. It wasn’t fab but it wasn’t bad either, considering it was only $15 nett.
The weather was so damn hot that we ended up going to Starbucks ECP to slack and for once, I didn’t mind sitting indoors. We got nice sofa seats in a corner and I can’t complain when there’s wireless there can I. We only ordered 1 drink each but while I was more than halfway through my drink, Chixy decided to top her drink up with whipped cream so they brought my drink along for more whipped cream and the staff spilt my entire cup and not only did I get a new drink, I got extra whipped cream as well. Haha. We bloody burst out laughing when the drink was brought to us.
We had KFC later in the evening and then all of us went home cos we all barely slept the nite before. Drove down to pick tubs up and then we went to Uncle Chris’ pub for some drinks with the Uncles and Aunties and then it was teochew porridge opposite. Tub’s aunty gave me a lighter which is so damn cute lah.
Went down to Kallang Macs after that to look for Jane and Dennis and then we drove around looking for a good spot to watch fireworks the next day.
Wednesday - 31 Dec
Tubs took leave today. Yay! Slept in and in the evening, we went to pick tub’s grandparents up and then we went to Yishun to meet the rest of the uncles and aunties for dinner. Dinner was great but there was far too much food. And during dinner, a cat decided to make itself very comfortable on an empty chair. Haha.
After we were done eating, tubs and I went to our chosen choice spot away from the maddening crowd to watch the fireworks. It seems that other people found our spot as well, but luckily there weren’t too many of them. Haha. I love watching fireworks. I'm very happy that I managed to get it down on video but I'm not gonna upload it here.
Decided to take a drive to Mt Faber after that cos I remember seeing pretty lights coming from there one night while I was at Chinatown, but by the time we left, the lights were out oready. The lights from the distance away reminded me of the Eiffel Tower. Haha.
So today I was quite keen on seeing it close up and that’s exactly what we did.
Met Jes after for supper and by 5+am, fatigue has hit us all and so it was home sweet home.
Thursday - 1 Jan
It was a quiet and lazy New Year’s day. Went to tub’s granny’s house for lunch before heading back to his place for a nap. While at tub’s granny’s place, Mandy sent me a photo of LV at NYC.
And I thought the Paris LV was impressive…
Woke up to watch Little Nonya and we decided to eat in instead so we ordered Macs delivery. Because tubs has to work the next day, we met Jane and Dennis at Simpang just for a quick drink.
That’s about all for now folks. There’s still the weekend to enjoy before everyone really starts getting back into the whole work routine before CNY arrives.
