. . . . . . . . . . I never meant to cause you any sorrow I never meant to cause you any pain I only wanted one time to see you laughing I only wanted to see you laughing in the purple rain . . . . . . . . . .
Friday, June 26, 2009 Moon River, wider than a mile, I'm crossing you in style some day. Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker, wherever you're going I'm going your way. Two drifters, off to see the world. There's such a lot of world to see. We're after the same rainbow's end, waiting 'round the bend, my huckleberry friend, Moon River and me.
What a song to set the mood for the weekend. This is one of those songs that never fail to touch me in a certain way, but I’m not sure if it’s in a good or bad way. It either makes me especially reminiscent of happier times, or it gives me a feeling of melancholy.
There are so many covers of this song, but I can’t decide which version I like best between Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra and Jerry Butler. I really wonder when is the next time there will be someone who is able to express such sentimentalism in their singing. Even Buble doesn’t quite give the same kick.
But I guess it’s only right to put up the video of Audrey Hepburn singing Moon River in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She was the original and the song was written just for her and you simply can‘t deny what a looker she was eh.
