Update!
Danny Boy came back on Friday night! Tubs and I went to pick him up from the airport and it’s great to see him again! If I had the time and money, I oso wanna go travel like he does. Haha. I’m getting mouldy staying in Singapore.
Anyway, we went for XDL and I wasn’t in the mood for it and surprisingly, Danny Boy’s appetite has shrunk even though he has put on weight. I think we talked more than eat lah. Mel joined us for awhile before going clubbing, and at that moment, I suddenly missed clubbing. *sigh* Feeling like an old aunty oready. We spent the rest of the night just catching up (yup, no alcohol can you believe it!?!!) and here are some of the goodies!
Danny Boy gave me his 5-yen coin cos apparantly, Go-en (Jap for 5 yen) sounds like 'fate', therefore people keep this coin for good luck.
Because the Marlboro Black at Bali was so good, we got him to buy a slot back for us. Declared and taxes paid for hor! Not only did it end up being more expensive than Singapore ciggies, it tasted a whole lot worse than the Bali ones. Dammit.. I think the Japs really like to smoke paper.. so far all the Jap ciggies I've tried are tasteless and far too light. Which leads me to thinking why they smoke for...
And this was a really nice surprise! Shiroi Koibito chocolate coooookkkiiiiieeeee~ It's damn yummy and it's not hard to see why it's so famous lah. And it comes in a nice tin with cats all over.
It won’t be long before he flies off again. It’s so damn hard trying to catch him. Haha. As much as he isn’t around much, but he seems happy flying everywhere so I guess that’s good for him. Tubs was in hibernation mode on Saturday and I was on MSN chatting with the whole world until I nearly went mad with boredom and I was complaining to Mel how I wanted to go Ion to take a look. She offered to accompany me but I couldn’t possibly leave tubs and run out so I tried waking him up. When I finally woke him up and got ourselves to town to meet Mel, it was evening oready.
Ion was pure madness. Pretty expected… but worse than what I imagined. There was difficulty walking and it totally put us off shopping. So all we did was to do a really speedy walk around the place and bought something to bite on from the food stalls in the basement.
All I can say is that it was far too packed to give the place a fair judgment so I shall attempt to go another day, hopefully on a weekday afternoon. Haha.
Because Ion was so packed and so was Wisma, we headed to Novena for Wee Nam Kee. I know I’m very suaku.. It was my first time there and even though it was good, it wasn’t as fantastic as what I expected since everyone raves about their chicken rice. After that, we popped over to U.d.d.e.r.s and Mel treated us to ice cream! It was shiok but so damn filling. I ended up trading ice cream with Mel cos mine was too creamy. Hur hur.
Dropped Mel off for her Heineken event and then we went to look for Alex for coffee, Macs and Max. The doggy was falling asleep half the time lah. He’s so cute but I still prefer him with really long and shaggy fur.
Sunday, woke up bright and early to go Mandai to visit Grandpa. This time Abi came with her husband (whose name nobody remembers). I can’t be fucked with her. So she was pretty much invisible to me. Not that I wanna be mean, but it was her choice to make things personal. If it wasn’t to visit Grandpa, I may have prayed for her to get shat on by a passing bird or something but well, despite her distinctive walk, talk & dress sense, I managed to keep her out of view so it’s all good. Not that I wish she didn’t turn up, but turn up every time. Don’t act like a prissy empress dowager cos at the end of the day, I believe she owes everything to the family even though she acts the opposite. Urgh. Enough of her. Giving me shivers down my backbone.
And speaking about shivers down my backbone.. While we were at Mandai, there were these monkeys that suddenly came out from nowhere and started feasting on the offerings people had left there. They were quite amusing to watch and everyone started taking pictures of them. I took a couple too and after transferring the photos into my com, in one of the pictures.. I think i saw more than a monkey.. Fab. I don't dare to open the file now and the digi cam is with tubs lah. Haha. I know lah.. Of all places take photos at a crematorium & columbarium.. at exactly where people burn all the offerings somemore.. But I didn't think so much at that point in time k.. I guess all the other people taking pictures didn't think so much either..
Following that was lunch at some Chinese restaurant nearby. Food was alright nia. But I guess there aren’t many good restaurants in the area. Wanted to KTV and since we were gonna go Grandma’s place for dinner in the evening anyways, we decided to go Teo Heng and when we got there, rooms were fully booked. So clever of us. So in the end we went to Leisure park for Kbox. We never ever doubt Kbox’s aircon but since it was such an impromptu decision, we were far from well prepared. Thank god tubs had a jacket in the car which I hogged the entire time there. Haha.
KTV was full of oldie goldies. Haha. From Aaron Kwok’s classic
To Beyond’s anthem.
Left KTV late and to make matters worse, the elevator at Grandma’s wasn’t working cos there was a fire drill going on. The climb nearly killed me. I’m surprised I even managed to make it up. That is how unfit I am. Tsk tsk. I needed recovery time before eating dinner. Lol. It was pork rib prawn mee soup for dinner. Yums! Was damn stuffed after that and it didn’t take long for tubs to fall asleep there. I nearly fell asleep too but managed to keep awake. It was then that I heard news about Massa’s near fatal accident. I really hate such news. It seems like his life is no longer in danger so I guess that‘s something to be thankful about.
After Grandma’s was talk cock session at the kopi shop near Mel’s. Sometimes, it’s a wonder when people decide to show their true colors. But some things better seen earlier than later. Some of our conversations can be downright dumb and redundant, but some are really mind-opening food for thought material. Haha.
Anyhoos, my wisdom tooth is hurting like hell. It’s swollen until one side of my face looks distorted lah. KNN. And I can’t even close my mouth properly. But not like that keeps me away from food. Hahaha. Tried calling the polyclinic and after countless consecutive calls to no avail, I guess I can only call again tomorrow. Anybody wanna donate money to me to go to a private dentist instead? Haha. By the time I get through to somebody on the polyclinic line, to the time I book an appointment, to the time I get referred to somewhere else, to the time the other appointment gets booked, to the time I actually get down to extracting my tooth/ teeth, many moons would have passed and all my teeth would have rotted and dropped on their own by then. It’s mid-week Wednesday today but somehow it feels like a long way more to the weekend. *sigh* By right, I’m supposed to receive a little something in the mail anytime soon and I can’t wait! Anyway, it feels like forever since I last met up with my darling Jes and I finally got to meet her yesterday lah. She’s busy like hell but I’m so proud of her cos if I were her, running on her kinda schedule, I would have gone mad oready. Hopefully everything turns out great for her because she is one of those people who deserves nothing but the best.
I can’t wait to watch Public Enemies!
Or more like I can’t wait to watch Johnny Depp. Hur hur. And after all this time, I am still waiting for Up to open.
I had no idea it’ll take so long to be released here lah. Kao..
Anyway here's the synopsis

I just realized that I haven’t been updating over here for quite awhile now. Maybe it’s because I’ve been somewhat busy I guess.
And because I’ve let a time lag happen, I am unable to place certain events in order anymore. And that’s even if I can remember what I’ve been up to at all. But let’s try. Haha.
Breko @ Bugis with Mel - Their prices have rocketed & their standards have plummeted. I’m sad it’s no longer how it used to be cos it was somewhere I really enjoyed going to for a drink and some bites. But come to think of it, that was many years ago. Haha.
XDL supper with tubs, Alex & Mel - It used to be too much of a good thing, now it’s just shiokadoo! In fact, I’m oready looking forward to the next XDL session.
Ban Mian with my bitches - Jane got me a t-shirt & a lighter from her BKK trip which I love! That night, it ended up with us somehow on the topic of the ghostlies again. Why am I not surprised…
Hairdresser’s - Went for a much needed trim and treatment while tubs dyed his hair purple and had treatment as well. Yup! Purple...
National Museum during the Night Festival - We went after sundown and what we didn’t expect was the long queue of people visiting the museum at night. We knew Free Entry + Singaporeans = Mad Crowd, but just not that many people at that time. Anyway, the weather outside was cold due to the rain and the temperature inside the museum was much colder than outside. Thank goodness both of us went prepared with our jackets. We went to the History Gallery and it was pretty interesting I gotta say. There were 2 paths to choose from and we chose the ‘events’ path instead of the ‘personal’ path. We thought that bought paths would lead to the same places but I guess we were wrong. It was only when we were getting out of the museum that we took a look at the map and we realized we had only covered about half of the entire gallery. WTH. But it was too late to go to the other gallery anyways. There was so much to see and listen and walk that by the time we were chased out at 2am, we had more or less walked finished our path but had skipped a lot of the audio description that we could hear from our handheld multimedia device. So I guess for people who wanna walk History Gallery thoroughly, you better go really early. If I’m not wrong, we had spent 3 hours inside.
Post-Museum - Leaving the museum, I had such a pain in my stomach I nearly passed out. I dunno what kind of pain it was, it was just one of the worst pains I’ve ever had. But after a couple of hours or so, I was feeling better so tubs & I met Alex at the coffeeshop. Seeing that it was getting late, we decided to leave and then we saw Marcus and his gf at the coffeeshop. So everyone hung out together somemore til it was later than late. *yawn* On the way home, I had a super strong craving for hotcakes so Macs drive thru it was! Yums~
Jes’s Honeymoon - My dear Jes is finally attached. About time I say! It’s been neither here nor there for so long, and then BOOM! it happened. Haha. I guess that’s what you call a Love Boat. My dear Jes deserves nothing short of a great guy so that better be the case! Haha. But I still can't believe how much she paid for the cruise trip... Insane!
Mudd - After meeting up with Jes for dinner and coffee one evening, I ended up meeting up with Mudd at my place. It’s been a very very long time since I last met up with him and I gotta say his call kinda took me by surprise but it was nice catching up nevertheless. At least I know there’s one more bored person in the east. Haha.
KTV - Had dinner at Mel’s place and boy do I miss good home cooked food. Why can’t the mother cook like Grandma or Aunty Corina? Haha. I don’t need fancy food.. I just need my food to taste right. We were watching 'It's A Small World' during dinner and that episode was damn funny I couldn't take it.. We couldn't stop laughing at the honky guy's mandarin but even though the show is very entertaining, Mark Lee's mandarin is quite bad.. If I can notice the mistakes, it must be that bad. So I really wonder what is the purpose of this show. Anyway after dinner, Mel and I went to pick tubs up from TMCC and then we went to Teo Heng for them to sing their hearts out.
Alexandra, Orchard, Tanjong Pagar, Marina Square - Couldn’t sleep the night before so decided to accompany Jane in the morning to bring her car for servicing. First thing in the morning, my nose was killing me no thanks to all the dust cos I spent the night packing abit of my room, and oso the smell of the concoction the condo’s cleaner was using to mop the floor. It was absolutely toxic man.. After dropping her car off and having some delifrance and milo at the service centre, we headed off to Orchard. Macs breakfast while people watching is quite nice, but that’s if you minus the bad nose + sun. After breakfast, the shopping starts.
I bought something totally redundant. I bought a pig thingy. The sealed box had shown 6 pigs, and except for the green one, I found the rest to be very cute. So can’t be so sway kena the green one right? I bought it, opened it, and saw the green swine. *sigh*
Zara was having sale and it couldn’t have been a better time to go since weekday afternoons weren’t so crowded and we were near Liat anyways. Managed to buy some clothes which made me very happy. Hur hur. Spent the rest of the day walking and shopping and stopping by Macs for some ice cream and to rest and people watch.
When Jane’s car was ready to collect, I headed down to Tanjong Pagar to look for Mel for our manicure and pedicure session. But they somehow got the appointment wrong and we decided to reschedule. So we cabbed over to Marina Square and the shopping starts once again. Haha. Because Zara carries different clothes at different outlets, I ended up with more shopping. We walked and bought until all the shops had finally closed. By then, tubs had come to look for us so we headed to Dunman for TJZ. The people had heard the order wrongly and made it super spicy for us. It was far too spicy man. Tubs couldn’t take it and I ended up with swollen lips. Haha. When I cleaned my mouth, I actually rubbed my lips off. Fucking painful. And for the next 2 days, my lips were still peeling lah.
That’s about all that I can remember for now. Now for this past weekend.
Friday I can’t remember anything except dinner followed by coffee with tubs at Xin Wang til late. Haha. Saturday Went to Far East Plaza with tubs cos he hasn’t been there in ages and keeps condemning the place. I can’t stand stubborn assuming people. Haha. But this time it was weird cos he was the one who suggested going there. After FEP, we headed to Square 2 for Gong Wen’s birthday dinner. But since we were early, we went over to U.d.d.e.r.s for some ice cream. I had Tiramisu, which I thought was good but too pricy. For $6 a scoop, I can think of many more brands of ice cream to spend that money on. After that we tried looking for the restaurant in vain. Haha. From being early to being late. We walked from building to building until we bumped into Huiting, who was also lost and in the wrong building. Lol. But we finally managed to find it. Phew.
Dinner was at Seoul Yummy. Korean food of cos. I thot the food was pretty alright. But the service was lousy. If it wasn’t Gong Wen’s birthday and if the rest didn’t ask me to let it go, I would have a lot to say to whoever was in charge then.
Firstly, I think staff should have a decent knowledge of English and the menu. Basic necessity. If all I do is read off the menu and point to the picture, how can anybody not get it? Unbelievable.
A set meal comes as a set for a reason. When serving, don’t announce every dish and ask whose it is. Open your damn eyes and see which dish matches whichever is oready on the table. There were so many of us and drink + appetizer + side order + soup + main dish + dessert + blah blah blah. Go figure how many times a conversation has to be interrupted just to help the waiter figure out what is whose.
I cannot stand servers who instead of putting the food on the table, they pass it to you instead. I pay service charge for a reason. If I wanted to take my own food, I would have gone somewhere else. I understand if it was too heavy or too far to reach etc. All you have to do is ask or say nicely. Don’t pass it to the customer like they are supposed to do you that favour.
When our food started coming, a bowl of rice was given to everyone. I didn’t feel like having mine, therefore I pushed mine away. Tubs ate his share and it was during billing when we realized the rice he ate was chargeable. The rest weren’t cos it was included in their set. This is as simple as being a cheat. Charging people for everything you put in front of them and hoping they would consume it, even if it was something they never ordered. It doesn’t make sense cos as long as the order was taken right, people tend to eat whatever is served to them. As long as something is not complimentary, it is only right to tell the customer. When the rice issue was brought up, the waiter could even point tubs out and said ‘but you ate what’. WTF. All he had to say was ‘sorry I am a cock up and a trickster and shouldn’t have tricked you into eating it to make more money for the restaurant’. I would rather he just waive the cost of the price off knowing it was a boo-boo on their part and the customer wasn’t too happy abut it. It’s not even about the money. It’s about morals and about customer service.
We asked for the bill to be split. It could have been done, but somehow it wasn’t. I’ll close one eye if they didn’t know how to do it (even though that shouldn’t even be an acceptable reason). But if I find out it wasn’t done bcos it was too much of a hassle, I would be damn pissed. We did ask the waiter for the manager, but all he could say was that there’s no manager and he’s the one in charge.
I think Seoul Yummy has no ethics, no basic customer service and is absolute bullshit. Maybe I came on a wrong day, but this one time is more than enough for me to condemn the place. Not only will I not only go back there, I’ll let all my friends know not to patronise them either.
But spending time with my lovelies oways makes everything better! My girls
My tubs
After leaving the restaurant, we headed to U.d.d.e.r.s for more ice cream! Haha. Mandy and Gong Wen left for St James after awhile and the rest of us stayed to talk cock. And then it got more and more insane until it was pure laughing madness. People must be thinking which flavour of ice cream we’ve all be having. Group pic @ U.d.d.e.r.s
HAPPYBIRTHDAYWEN! Hope you enjoyed the little gathering and I have to say age is definately not catching up with you man. Haha. You still look as young and even prettier than I first met you! I notice that our meet-ups and celebrations are getting more and more simple. But it doesn't mean we're having any less fun. Sometimes quality time spent with each other means so much more! But I still think we should try to meet up more often, ok gang!?
When we finally left, tubs and I headed to join Mel. What a coincidence cos she was at the pub directly below Boozee, which is where Jes frequents weekly and which we’ve been to quite a few times before too. Mel was with Alac, whom I haven’t seen in probably 9 years, whom I got to know through another group of friends. Haha. Called Jes down for a smoke and then it was drinking time. How I miss my beer.. But I guess it’s something I won’t need to miss too much cos Danny boy is coming back very very soon oready and with him around, never fear that there is no beer. Hur hur.
Sunday In the afternoon, tubs and I went to Iluma to watch Ice Age 3 cos it was the only cinema with the best timing. Might as well I guess cos we haven’t been there yet. I quite like the place I gotta say. Not really shopping wise but I like the big open spaces. Cluttered and crowded shopping centers can really drive me mad. Because we were rushing for our movie, we didn’t walk the entire place, other than catching a glimpse as we took the escalator. Ice Age 3 was really funny! After the show, we managed to grab some ice cream from Marble Slab Creamery before heading over to Grandma’s for dinner. The ice cream was fab. But it was too much. And it spoilt my dinner. Haha.
Due to some unforeseen circumstances, Mel didn’t come over for dinner. We watched abit of Harry Potter on TV and then went to pick Mel up and headed over to our new fave coffeeshop to talk. Something bad happened but I guess at the end of the day, it could have been worse so I guess I’m still abit relieved. I believe some things happen for a reason. Some reasons we’ll never find out until after awhile, some reasons are hard to even understand why. But let’s just take things one step at a time now and see what’s in store. In the meantime, I’ll oways be there for you.
Monday Dinner & Pedicure with Mel. I have forsaken my nails for far too long. Now that I’ve got my feet done, I really gotta do my hands too man.. I guess that’ll be settled another day.
Tuesday Not that I stayed awake in hope of catching the solar eclipse, but my insomnia is just such a convenient excuse eh. Anyway it’s raining and raining over here in our sunny island and so there’s nothing to see at all. But it’s quite nice watching it live on channel newsasia. It’s really quite a sight, especially over in India and China. But since the weather is such over here, then I guess that’s it for us experiencing the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century. Oh well..

FRIDAY ECP Fun Fun Cafe date during dinner time til late. Haha. Went over to tubs place after that and then we went to Cathay to watch Transformers. I really liked it but there was still something missing. I know it was 2.5hrs but it didn't seem that long other than becoming more fidgety and needing to piss. Maybe I was itching for more Transformers action. Not Human i.e Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf. Anyway tubs bought me a combo just because the cup was damn cute. Haha. It's top was like a snow globe with the silly squirrel and it's acorn. I think one day he'll stop buying me combos just because I like the cup/ gift. Haha. But to be fair, I did finish my popcorn and my drink....
SATURDAY In the early afternoon, tubs and I set off for our heritage tour, but not before going to Roxy to eat the wanton mee which I haven't ate for years. I still like it even though the standard has dropped a little. Maybe it's just the taste of nostalgia that was so satisfying. Haha. Ok back to the matter at hand. This week we went to Fort Canning to walk about. Becasue it was in the afternoon, the heat wasn't funny man. I nearly passed out on the tombstones there. Haha. The only shady part were below the trees, which comes insects.
Anyway, I'm kinda lazy to explain everything in detail so here are just some pictures and a description I stole off the internet.
Gothic Gates - These imposing and sombre gateways in gothic style lead the visitor into Fort Canning Green, where a Christian cemetery used to stand. Built in 1846, these gates have since become landmarks of Fort Canning Hill. Note the letters above both gates - IHS - standing for Iota Heta Sigm , the first three letters of the Greek word for Jesus.
James Brooke Napier Memorial - Dedicated to James Brooke Napier, the infant son of William Napier, who was Singapore's first Law Agent, and Maria Frances Napier, the widow of George Coleman. The memorial was the largest erected in the cemetery, reflecting the status of William Napier.
Fort Canning Centre - It used to be the barracks of the British Army. The British Army chose Fort Canning as its headquarters of its defence bases in the 1920s to protect British interests in Southeast Asia.
Cupolas - Designed by George Coleman, they were probably places of rest. The word 'cupola' means a small dome-shaped roof or ceiling. George Coleman was a talented architect who left his mark on the urban landscape of Singapore. He was Raffles' consultant on Singapore's first town plan. As Superintendent of Public Works, he oversaw projects of land reclamation and construction of roads and landmarks such as the Armenian Church.
George Coleman's Tombstone @ Christian Cemetary
The Fort Wall & Gate - The Gate and the adjoining wall are the remains of the fortress which occupied this hill from 1861 to 1926 when it was demolished to make way for the reservoir. Some 400 coolies were mobilised in leveling 3 hectares of hilltop and constructing the elaborate fort complex of barrack blocks, hospital, gunpowder magazines and supporting artillery. In 1867, the fort had seven 68-pounder guns, eight 8-inch guns, two 13-inch mortars and some 14-pounder cannonades. A cannon was fired 3 times a day (at 5 a.m., 1 p.m. and 9 p.m.) in colonial times to announce the hour. Be sure to look behind the Fort Gate's massive wooden door for the narrow stairway leading to the roof.
Sally Port - A small hidden door that leads into or out of a fort, allowing occupants to escape from the fort undetected. Fort Canning had at least three sally ports but only one remains today.
Archaeological Excavation Site - In 1984, archaeologist John Miksic and his team began an archaeological excavation that continues until today.Among the artefacts recovered were porcelain, earthenware and glass shards. These artefacts show that there could have been a Malay kingdom on Fort Canning Hill, with possibility of glass and gold workshops.
In the cemetary
We saw other things like The Battle Box, Spice Garden, Raffles Terrace, Sculpture Garden, 9 pound cannon etc but we didn't take much photos cos the weather was so damn hot I really wasn't in the mood to. After that, to the museum we went!
Entering the Singapore National Museum was heavenly. No more insects, no more grass, no more heat. Being suaku, and especially when I can't even remember whether I've been into the museum before, we were quite lost. Haha. Luckily we got help from a very nice security who told us since it was already 5+pm, maybe we shouldn't buy tickets cos certain galleries are free from 6-8pm and the other one which wasn't free closes at 6pm and we wouldn't have enough time to finish walking that. So he suggested either we come earlier another day or we come during the upcoming weekend cos musuem hours are extended til late and it's FOC in conjunction with the Night Festival. So while waiting for 6pm, we sat at the nice cafe downstairs for a much needed drink.
There were 4 free galleries in total which were under 'Living Galleries'. The first one we went to was 'Food'. Nothing much but it was fine. Then we headed to 'Photography'. The pictures we damn freaky. Just take a good look at every picture and the faces of the people in all the photos. It's straight from a horror movie. The way they stand, their clothes, their expressions.. instant goosebumps. So we headed over to 'Film & Wayang'. It was darker than the other galleries and they had a few big ass screens showing old movies and the sounds were scary man. The screaming etc made me really uncomfortable and then we came to an area which was better lit but the first thing you see is a huge red paper house. The first thing that came to mind was those houses people burn for the deceased. Even tubs freaked out and when he turned the other direction, it was a bunch of wooden puppets hanging against the wall looking straight at him. That was it for him. Haha. So finally we headed to 'Fashion'. I have no idea why they have to keep the enire place so dark and with so many corners. At every corner, it looks like there's a big space in front of you but it was just a mirror. It took some getting used to cos being in darkness and having a mirror right smack in front of you is just not very settling. But it was less scary than the previous 2 even though it was the darkest. It didn't help that other than the 'Food' and 'Photograpy' galleries, we were pretty much alone in the other 2, other than probably 2 or 3 other people who came before us which means they oso left before us. Looky at the date. Familiar? Haha That's all for our little excursion. I still don't think museums and historical sites should be freaky. It's somewhere for people to learn and not portray our earlier days as being ghostly. Anyway at the car park, we heard what we thought was fireworks. But then it sounded more like the 21-gun salute which means fireworks had not started yet! So we went to Marina Barrage and waited for the fireworks, together with many other people. Haha.
It was such a nice evening, and then somehow, you can oways depend on some Singaporeans to spoil it for you. The kids there were like animals let out of their cages. Running like maniacs and screaming non stop over nothing. Gawd. And then when you are nicely seated somewhere with an unobstructed view, there will be people who will stand right in front of you, completely blocking any view at all. There was so much empty space around and it's a no brainer that people are seated there for a reason. But anyways, don't say I never share the next piece of info - Marina Barrage is NOT a good fireworks watching spot. You can only see parts of it between the 3 IR buildings. Damn the IR. Haha.
We had KFC drive thru for our dinner and ate at a block in Marine Parade and the wind was so damn strong & cold at the void deck. Didn't manage to finish my food and so we went back to my place after that and with barely enough time to freshen up, we had to rush off to celebrate Glenn's aunty's birthday at a pub in the Chinatown area. Aunty oready but still a yummy mummy. Lol. Actually aunty Lynn isn't even that old lah. Barely 40 and still looking good. Either we reached just in time for the cake cutting, or they purposely waited for us but better late than never eh. Haha. Joking.
Sent Aunty Rita and Samantha back but not before we went to the coffeeshop near her place for supper. Shared a bowl of noodles soup with tubs and it was pretty good but I only had a little bit before it was all gone.
SUNDAY Pretty much slept the day away. I woke up now and then during the day but tubs was impossible to wake, which led to me falling back asleep and before we knew it, it was past 6.30pm oready. Die. Quickly got ready and rushed to Granny's for dinner. It was Jeff's birthday so there was yummy cake for dessert. Yay! And Grandma made noodles for dinner which I so damn love to the max. Thinking of it is making me hungry man..
Hung out with Mel after dinner and it seems like forever since I last saw her or spoke to her. No matter what happens, I still love you and will oways be there whenever you need me k! *hugs*
Before we knew it, it was around 2am oready so it was back to tub's place for him to finish doing my com for me and then we went for Macs brekkie. The weather was so cold and shiok and I couldn't imagine what could be worse than sitting at the smoking area and enjoying our hot breakfast but I guess somethings I really didn't predict. Like the numerous insects that were all over the restaurant, both inside and outside. Some were flying about, some were dead on the floor, some had lost their wings and were just crawling around the entire place... But whatever it is, I can't have a peace of mind and enjoy my breakfast with these pests around. Just looking at them gave me an itch. And when i say numerous, I mean it. Everywhere you looked, up or down, you can see them. And then tubs concluded that it must have been the staff that left all their doors open when there weren't any customers so that they could save electricity on the aircon and therefore that was why there were sooooo damn many insects indoors. Gross stuff.
Anyway, because I reformatted my com and some things could not be back-uped and some things were forgotten to back up, I have a load of things to do now just to get it back to normal. That's about it for the weekend. Gotta return to downloading and sorting stuff out. I guess it's high time for some computer housekeeping anyways. Thank goodness they're showing the Michael Jackson Memorial on TV now. At least something to entertain me at the same time.

FRIDAY Had a coffee date with a loved one at ECP and guess what? The UK Fun Fun Café was open lor. The past few times I went, it was closed and I was pretty sure it had closed down for good. But apparently it’s still open, except they only serve drinks now, and the closing time is whenever they feel like it. Yeah, damn WTF. I like the place cos it’s comfy, drinks are nice, and it isn’t expensive. But judging by the way they’re looking, I doubt they’ll sustain much longer. Boo Hoo.
After that, we had supper at XDL together with tubs and I know I’ve said it many times before but it’s really nice getting an outdoor seat. It’s more cooling, less stuffy, less smelly, less noisy and I don’t have to keep running out just to smoke.
Done with supper, we found somewhere to chillax and it was morning before we knew it. Time for tubs to get his beauty sleep.
SATURDAY Once again, we pretty much slept most part of the day away. Went to tub’s place just to check movie timing but his parents came home around the same time as us and we all took turns to Skype with Tricia. She brought me on a ‘live’ tour of her apartment which was small but cosy and perfect for herself. I guess visiting her would be a perfect excuse to go Australia (hey I really wanna see her ok) but I guess that’ll have to wait cos soon she’ll be flying back for a short break anyways.
In the end, we went to Lido because we had free open tickets. Wanted to watch Transformers but it was either sold out or selling fast so we ended up settling for ‘I Love You, Man’. It was alight only. It wasn’t bad enuff to piss me off, but I wouldn’t mind not watching it. We had 2 hours to spare before the show started and an empty stomach so with the car still parked at Shaw, we took a bus to Cineleisure for dinner. Haha. After which we took a stroll back to Lido for the movie. People either love the seats at Lido or they hate it. This time I hated it. Cos there was some fucker behind me who stuck his knee right at the back of my seat, which resulted in it to not being able to recline properly, which in turn made me feel like I was having a bad back. And then the fucker started shaking his legs. Which led to me vibrating in my vibrating seat. It was obvious he knew what he was doing. Even tubs could see me vibrating. I was in the mood for some an eye for an eye. So every time he vibrated/ kicked my chair, I made sure I tried to bust his knee open with my seat. He got it finally, but such a pity his pea brain took such a long time to register. I know Lido seats are damn near each other but if properly seated, and if guys sit normally (not slouching all the way down and with their legs open/ slightly open), the person in front wouldn’t have got it the way I did. I have no idea why that Gu Niang behind me was sitting with his legs closed the entire time, but I hope the next time he continues being such a moron, someone will not be as patient as me and bust both his knees open for good.
Because we had a long Sunday planned, tubs decided to act hero and not sleep just so that we can finally wake up/ go out in the morning. So we went back to my place after the movie for awhile before we went to ECP for Macs breakfast and when the skies were starting to turn bright, we headed back to my place to wash up and pack for our Sunday excursion!
SUNDAY Off to the Southern Ridges for some early morning exercise. Yeah right. Out of 9km chain which consists of 8 intersecting trails, we had it short listed to only 3 trails - Henderson Waves, Hilltop Walk and Alexandra Arch.
Weather looking good
First off was Henderson Waves. You could tell we were really prepared. I went armed with a bottle of water and sunglasses amongst other things, and also the most suitable pair of walking shoes ever - Slippers. Yeah, I completely forgot about footwear. Tubs wasn’t so bad. He wore his skate shoes but happened to wear a short sleeved shirt, which buttons came more and more undone along the walk. Haha. But it wasn’t that bad I gotta say. Cos we were sufficiently sheltered and the walk wasn’t exactly very long nor very tedious. Or maybe since it was the first walk, we were in a suitably happy mood and it helped that the morning sun wasn‘t too bad.
Are you ready?

When we finally walked to the other end of the bridge, we realized that we went the wrong direction. If we had started from the other side, the trail would have flowed more with the paths we wanted to take. So we U-turned and took more rubbish pictures on the way back.
Spot the bird
My Ah Beng isn't fond of heights
The kid wasn't pointing at tubs but somehow the photo turned out this way. Lol
Wootz!
Back into the car for some aircon and to drive to the next trail. Hahaha.
Next was to Hilltop Walk, which was situated at Telok Blangah Hill which we were on anyways. So we just drove around looking for it, and ended up at Forest Walk.
It was a long snaking walk man. We didn’t think it would bring us to Hilltop Walk anyways so we just went to take a quick snap before we went back into the car. Driving along, we came across an abandoned mansion and despite the signs, we went in anyways. Haha. We didn’t go inside the mansion. We only walked thru some grass and stood in the vicinity taking pictures.

That was Alkaff Mansion, which not so long ago (2003 I think) ceased operations for what used to be a hotspot for weddings and it was also well known as a restaurant. The Mansion‘s history before that, you can find out on your own. Let’s just say some really rich Arabs used to own it, amongst other properties in Singapore.
Continuing our search for Hilltop Walk, we ended up at Canopy Walk. It was really walking thru the top of the trees. And that only means one thing - insects of every kind. The wasps were the last straw for us so we detoured before barely walking for even a couple of minutes. Haha. It was a redundant route for us anyways and we may have scared afew people on the way either by how we looked as if we saw a ghost or like we were being chased by something or just me with my Sadako inspired hair. My logic was that as long as I don’t see anything except the ground I‘m walking on, I won’t freak out and as long as nothing lands on my face, I wouldn’t scream the whole bridge down. But I guess I didn’t take into consideration how I looked to other people. That few steps into the Canopy Walk was enuff to give me an itch so back to the car we went once again.
Round and round we went, up and down we went, not stopping til we came to dead ends. And alas, we figured we have passed every possible carpark at least twice and still no sign of Hilltop Walk. We decided to ask an uncle who seemed to have just finished his morning exercise and he told us it was at Kent Ridge Park.
................................................................................................... But instead of going to Kent Ridge, we went to Alexandra Arch first and I was lost for words at the sight that greeted us. It was just a damn pedestrian overhead bridge. The normal kind all over Singapore, the normal kind everybody uses to cross the road. Except this one had more pattern.
I wanted to puke blood but then we spotted something more interesting. Other people’s houses. Hahaha. They were the big pretty colonial kind. Very nice but we figured it wouldn’t be very nice to take photos of people’s houses especially when they’re in. And it was that street that we figured out we were also at Floral Walk and Hortpark, which were 2 of the trails but which didn’t catch our fancy cos flora and fauna aren’t quite our cup of tea.
So over to Kent Ridge we went. And walk we did. First we were at the all familiar sight - The Tank. Simply because it was right at the carpark. Haha. Then uphill was the lookout point which showed more land reclamation at work in the near distance. This is Singapore. What’s new eh. And we also spotted some houses whose owners obviously didn’t have any taste in colours at all. Maybe they just wanted their house to be so striking that people can’t miss it when they are on Kent Ridge Park looking out. If that was the case, then they’ve succeeded 10 times over.
Walking along, we ended up nowhere so we went back to the car and decided to drive our way around. And we drove and drove but there was nothing. And then we came to another side of Kent Ridge Park. We found a trail beside a condo but it looked highly questionable and definitely insect ridden but still no sign of Hilltop Walk. Our patience had kinda ran low at this point of time and all this trouble to just find Hilltop Walk was getting too frustrating. At the carpark was a sign leading to ‘Reflections at Bukit Chandu’ so we decided to make that our final stop. It was a mini museum of sorts and we had to pay an entrance fee which was pretty minimal and thoughts of being in an air-conditioned place was pretty tempting so in we went.
Basically this colonial building on Bukit Chandu aka Opium Hill was restored and now made into a WW2 interpretative centre, with good reason as well, as Bukit Chandu was the site of one of the fiercest and last significant battles before the British surrendered Singapore to the Japanese on 15 February 1942. For 48 hours, our soldiers fought even though greatly outnumbered (159 : 13,000) and resorted to hand-to-hand combat when ammunition ran out. In the end, many died and those who survived were captured and massacred by the Japs.
There were barely any visitors inside the museum and the uncle in charge of the place was very nice and asked us to go up to view a show which was starting soon. In the room were some stools with headphones and including us, there was an ang moh lady on her own, and an ang moh couple. The show was a summary of the Bukit Chandu War as told by a man who was there. The only problem was there were a lot of sound effects, the volume both with and without headphones was very loud (headphones were to give a better sound effect) and throughout the video show, it was 70% of the time when the room was pitch black. I mean the kind where you can’t even see your hand in front of your face. It scared the shit outta me so I could only hold on to tubs. Before even halfway thru the show, the ang moh lady ran out. Haha. But I think something should be done about this. It’s a history lesson even though the aim was to make it seem more realistic and to make people concentrate on the dialogue. But I don’t get that vibe. It’s more of a ghost show vibe. -shivers- The whole museum was pretty small but we read everything and walked the whole place thoroughly before leaving. Sometimes it’s funny when are the times our country’s history catches our attention - when we are not forced to study it. I have pretty much completely forgotten Singapore’s history. And then when you stumble on such places, it really grabs your interest. Weird. But in a good way I guess. Some things, we just have to know about. Especially when our grandparents can still tell stories about it, you realise it wasn’t even that long ago when such terrible things took place here.
Leaving Kent Ridge after all this running around, it was only coming to lunch time, where we headed to Queensway for. I never fancied that hawker centre even though I’ve been there more than afew times but it’s always very hot there. The food is good. Tough choice but I guess eating there once in awhile is fine, especially since we’re seldom in that area anyways.
After lunch was back to tub’s house but we decided to stop at a block nearby for a smoke first. While smoking, I saw an Indian lady carrying a baby in a way I found peculiar but not exactly wrong. She didn’t cradle the baby like people normally do, but instead she held the baby in such a way the only support the baby had was her 2 lower arms which she held out parallel to each other. You could see the baby’s arms and legs flailing in the air but it wasn’t crying at all so other than telling tubs to look at how she was carrying her baby, I didn‘t think much about it. The next thing we knew, she had oready walked past us and was nearing the road when we heard her shouting and screaming. We quickly went to take a look and we saw her screaming at somebody who had just gotten into a cab and the cab just sped off while she tried to chase it. And we realized she wasn’t carrying her baby. And then we spotted it on the floor. On the scorching hot concrete pavement. I got such a shock but I couldn’t figure out what had just happened. The baby was crying (thankfully it was still alive) and when the lady realized there was no way to catch up with the cab, she picked up her baby and walked off. She didn’t even check if the baby was ok, but she simply picked it up like it wasn’t even a living thing.
I was fucking traumatized I swear. At that moment, all I wondered was if someone had pushed her causing the baby to fall or tried to attack/ rob her or tried to snatch her baby or steal the cab from her, and then asking the driver to quickly move off. I was oready walking towards her to ask if she was ok or if she wanted me to call the cops but when I saw how she picked up the baby. It stunned me until I stopped in my tracks immediately and turned to look at tubs who told me to leave her alone.
After that, it kinda sank in that she should be crazy and that she probably threw/ dropped her own baby on the ground to raise a ruckus, which is why the person was in such a hurry to get into the cab to avoid this crazed woman, and it also explains why the driver went off so fast. I can’t imagine a cab driver speeding off if his passenger who just rushed into his cab was up to no good. I just hope that she doesn’t do anything stupid with her baby anymore cos I highly doubt such a small baby can take much more of such impacts and trauma. But I hope even more that that was her own baby and not someone else’s baby which she stole.
Back at tub’s house, it was time for a nice long shower. It never felt better man. Rested for awhile and I started craving for ice cream. Thought I would settle the craving at U.d.d.e.r.s since it was nearby but then we ended up going to Liang Court cos I was craving for Japanese Green Tea ice cream to be specific and I love Haato’s, which had an outlet at Liang Court. Yums!
Walked Meidi-ya, wanted once again to buy 101 random things just because the packaging was so nice, practiced successfully some self-control, then we headed to Granny’s for dinner. Haven’t been over for 2 weeks oready. I swear Granny gave us her death stare. Haha. Aunty Cat has been back in Singapore for the past 2 weeks as well if I’m not wrong so it was about time I went over. Mel and family didn’t go over though cos they decided to stay home after their trip down under in case they caught anything nasty there. I still wanna go Australia lah. I don’t care about the damn H1N1. Haha. Heard fireworks going off and from where I was at the balcony, I could only see some smoke and some reflections. Should have tried the other rooms for a better view. Bummer.
Supposed to meet up with Ben at night but while at my house waiting for Ben to call, tubs fell asleep. Ben never called, Tubs never woke, and I was still waiting to go out.
MONDAY Tubs took leave so we slept in and by the time we left the house, it was dinner time. Went for fish steamboat which was wayyyyy too much for the both of us to finish but it was great eating that especially right after the rain.
I’ve been having mad cravings for dessert and so after dinner, we went to Tom’s palette for ice cream.
This place was highly raved about and I ain’t complaining about anything but somehow, it doesn’t give me enuff kick to go down just for an ice cream fix. I had rum&rasin which was laden with rum but not too much til it makes you choke, and I also had chocolate. Basic chocolate. It reminded me of Awfully Chocolate’s version a lot but I preferred the one at Awfully Chocolate. Tubs got himself some banana chocolate ice cream which he really liked. I think they have really nice ice cream, but there’s just something lacking which I can’t figure out exactly what. But then again, ice cream is very subjective. What’s too sweet for others may be just nice to me, what’s not creamy enough to me may be very creamy to others. So the only way to judge is to try for yourself.
Oh. And talking about cravings, I’ve been eating too much Jagabee in just 1 weekend. Somebody stop me!
